CNU Stretch Practitioner Recertification Policy

Purpose & Scope

Recertification exists to guarantee that every practitioner carrying a CNU Stretch credential is currently practicing, safe, and current on the CNU method. This policy applies to all three credential tiers: CNU-CSP (Certified Stretch Practitioner), CNU-ASP (Advanced Stretch Practitioner), and CNU-MSP (Master Stretch Practitioner). A credential that is not recertified on schedule lapses and may not be represented to the public as active.

The Recertification Cycle

Recertification runs on a rolling 24-month cycle from your original certification date, renewing on that same calendar date every two years. The recertification window opens 120 days before your anniversary and closes on the anniversary date. All requirements — compliance baseline, continuing education, and the renewal fee — must be completed and submitted inside that window.

The Recertification Standard — At a Glance

Recertification has three parts: one compliance baseline (required of every tier), one continuing-education path of your choosing, and a flat renewal fee.

• One compliance baseline, required for all tiers: attestation, re-signed Ethics & Scope of Practice, current CPR/AED, and insurance attestation
• One continuing-education path, choose ONE: Path 1 — 20 CE hours, Path 2 — 12 approved case studies, or Path 3 — advance a credential level
• One flat renewal fee, due at submission

Requirements build by tier: CNU-CSP meets this standard as written; CNU-ASP and CNU-MSP add an assisting requirement on top of it (see Tier Requirements below).

This shape is deliberate. The compliance baseline protects the brand — safety, scope, and insurance are re-affirmed every single cycle, with no exceptions. The education choice respects that practitioners run different practices: a busy senior practitioner can buy CE hours, a hands-on practitioner can submit case work instead, and an ambitious practitioner can advance a credential level and satisfy the requirement that way. Note that retaking Level I & II is deliberately NOT a standard recertification path — it is the reinstatement route reserved for lapsed credentials only (see Lapse, Grace & Reinstatement below).

Compliance Baseline (Required)

Every practitioner, every cycle, regardless of tier or chosen CE path:

• Active-practice attestation
• Ethics & Scope of Practice re-affirmation — re-sign the CURRENT Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice statement each cycle, so every practitioner is bound to the latest standard
• Current CPR/AED certification — valid, unexpired, hands-on
• Liability insurance attestation — independent practitioners attest to current professional/liability coverage; practitioners covered under a CNU Fit location's or a licensed gym's policy attest to that coverage instead

Continuing Education (Choose One Path)

Path 1 — 20 CE Contact Hours

Accumulate 20 CE contact hours across the 2-year cycle. Qualifying sources include CNU Stretch workshops, advanced modules, and live sessions; CNU Stretch vendor events and educational activations at industry shows such as SCW, Perform Better, and HFA; and CNU-approved external continuing education in stretch, mobility, anatomy, movement, or allied clinical topics. Documented proof is required per activity. Self-study is capped at 50% of the requirement (10 of the 20 hours) — at least half of your hours must be live or instructor-verified.

Path 2 — 12 Approved Case Studies

Build a portfolio of 12 case studies drawn from real client work completed during the cycle, meeting CNU's requirements outlined below. This is the strongest proof of applied competency and is the recommended path for hands-on practitioners.

Path 3 — Advance a Credential Level

Completing the next tier during the cycle — CSP → ASP, or ASP → MSP — automatically satisfies the education requirement for that cycle only. The compliance baseline and renewal fee still apply. Since MSP has no higher tier, CNU-MSP practitioners recertify via Path 1 or Path 2, and may also satisfy education by teaching or mentoring: leading a CNU Stretch workshop or precepting a case-study candidate counts toward this requirement.

Case Study Path — Requirements

This is a public summary of what your case-study portfolio must contain. Submissions are reviewed against CNU's approval standard; internal review materials are not published here.

• Exactly 12 case studies, each a distinct client, all completed within your current 2-year cycle — original work only
• Each case documents a minimum of 4 sessions over at least 4 weeks
• The 12 cases must span diversity: at least 3 distinct primary-goal categories (mobility/ROM restoration; athletic performance & recovery; general flexibility/desk-bound & postural; active aging/older adult; pre-/post-event preparation), at least 2 different adult age brackets, and no single goal category may exceed 4 of the 12 cases
• All cases are de-identified — no client name is used — and any photos or video included require written client consent; every case carries signed consent for professional review
• Each case documents: client profile, initial assessment & baseline, safety & scope screening, program design & rationale, session log, re-assessment & outcomes, reflection & clinical reasoning, and a consent/compliance attestation
• Submit your completed portfolio on the CNU Stretch case-study template inside your recertification window through your practitioner portal

Reviews are conducted by a designated CNU-MSP or Lead Instructor, with a target 3-week turnaround.

Renewal Fees

• Standard recertification fee: $99 flat, all tiers and all CE paths, due at submission within the window
• Late fee: +$49, applies during the 90-day grace period after your anniversary
• Case-study resubmission: $0 — your first resubmission is free
• Reinstatement after expiration: the current course price to retake Level I & II — there is no separate renewal fee, since the course purchase itself is the reset

Lapse, Grace & Reinstatement

Use of the CNU Stretch name, logo, and credential marks is licensed only to active (or in-grace) practitioners. Practitioners who are expired, revoked, or lapsed must remove the marks from bios, profiles, signage, and marketing.

Staying on Track

You'll receive automated reminders at 120, 90, 60, and 30 days before your anniversary, at the anniversary itself, and during the grace period — so no one lapses by surprise.
